My Fitness Story
How did it begin?
Growing up, I had always been overweight and incredibly unhealthy. I ate my feelings and didn’t know the importance of what physical activity can do. The past few years I have been through a lot of trials and tribulations with finding a healthy/fit lifestyle, and currently I am the strongest I have ever felt (physically and mentally). All of these changes have encouraged me to not only lead a different lifestyle, but to help others do the same. I am currently in the process of obtaining my Personal Training Certification through ACE.
What have you learned?
I have learned that there will always be someone to try and bring me down. I have been fat shamed, skinny shamed, told to “slow down”, told to eat a certain way, and received many unwanted opinions about a healthy lifestyle.
I have also learned proper technique should be encouraged more through your fitness process. 3 technically challenging push ups are better than 10 poorly executed ones. Through constant studying, personal training, and group exercise classes, I have educated myself on many topics.
What is your mission?
Body positivity: love yourself at your biggest, smallest, and everywhere in between, but NEVER settle for something that makes you feel less than. Keep fighting, keep educating yourself, listen, pretend to listen, have fun, keep getting fit, and keep searching for that healthy lifestyle no matter what the peanut gallery has to say.
